North America softwood lumber production volumes and sawmill capacity utilization rates released by Western Wood Products Association (www.wwpa.org) show:
US lumber production for Jan – May 2021 up +5.9% compared to the first five months of 2020.
Canada lumber production for up +15.3% compared to one year ago. British Columbia lumber production up +24% in Jan-May 2021 compared to the same time last year.
US sawmill capacity utilization rates at 87%, which is up +3% compared to Jan-May 2020 Canada sawmill capacity utilization in the first four months of this year at 84%, which is up +10% from a horrendous 74% in the first five months of 2020.
