North America Softwood Lumber Production: Jan – Nov 2019

Last year started out pretty flat but by 3Q 2019 North American softwood lumber production recovered nicely, says the latest issue of the Western Wood Products Association’s monthly Lumber Track, for January-November 2019. The latest data shows US lumber production volume improving enough to match the same time last year, to 32,612 mmfbm.
As most of last year, January – November softwood lumber production in Canada continued big drops compared to 2018, again falling -11%, to 22,745 mmfbm, compared to the first eleven months last year when it was 25,486 mmfbm.

US sawmill production as per cent of practical capacity for the first eleven months of 2019 rose from the earlier months of 2019, and is at 84%, from 86% for the same time in 2018, said the Western Wood Products Association’s monthly Lumber Track.
Canadian sawmill production as per cent of practical capacity recovered from brutal lows in mid-2019, to 80% in January – November 2019 compared to 88% the previous year.
