Rates of production as percent of practical capacity for North American sawmills for June 2017 rose from May to 85% in the US, compared to 86% the previous year and 86% for full year 2016, said the latest issue of the Western Wood Products Association Lumber Track Monday.
Capacity utilization of sawmills in Canada for June dropped to 93% from May. In June last year and for full year 2016 it was 91%.

Softwood lumber production by US sawmills reached 16,954 million board feet in June 2017, a gain of 2.5 per cent from 16,541 million board feet in the same period the previous year, according to the Western Wood Products Associationโs monthy Lumber Track.
Canadian sawmills produced 14,560 million board feet of softwood lumber last year, a gain of 1.8 per cent from 14,308 million board feet in June 2016.
