FPInnovations, in collaboration with The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) and the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), announced Thursday it has developed a Product Category Rules (PCR) for North American market pulp, paper and paperboard products, tissue, and containerboard manufacturers. Roseburg Sells, Solifor Buys…

Roseburg Resources, out of Sprinfield, OR, is selling 170,000 acres of timberland in Siskiyou and Shasta counties an Australia management firm, according to the Mail Tribune Thursday. Roseburg has operations in three Northwest states, including a medium density fiberboard plant in Medford, and four Southeast states. The buyer is New Forests, a US$3 billion firm based in Sydney, Australia, with offices in San Francisco, Singapore and New Zealand. Canada Sawmill Production: July 2017

Lumber production in Canada declined 9.1 per cent from June to July 2017, with Canadian sawmills producing 5,201 thousand cubic metres of lumber, said Statistics Canada Tuesday. Production was 1.9 per cent lower than in July 2016. Sawmills shipped 5,459 thousand cubic metres of lumber in July, down 5.2 per cent from June and 0.8 per cent lower than in July 2016.

Jobs are coming back to Hefler Forest Products’ sawmill in Middle Sackville, NS, starting next month, said Stan Mason, president of the forest products company to The Hants Journal September 15.
