Japan’s First CLT Plant


Meiken Industry, out of Okayama prefecture in Japan, has announced plans to acquire 40,000 square metres of property by it’s lamina joint plant and distribution warehouse, to build a cross-laminated timber manufacturin plant, according to Japan Lumber Reports Friday.
Planned production for the facility is 50,000 cubic metres annually.
A Maniwa biomass power plant using wood waste from the CLT plant to provide fuel and heat to dry lamina will start up in April.
CLT production will begin in April 2016, the company said, total investment came to approximately 3.36 billion yen.
