Two sets of labour negotiations reached agreement this week.
The BC Northern Interior Bargaining Committee (USW) and the Council on Northern Interior Forest Employment Relations (Conifer) have shook hands and reached a tentative agreement, said a United Steelworkers release Wednesday.
Labour Agreements
Talks resumed this week in Prince George, BC, where Conifer and the USW wrestled with a pattern that has now been bargained into four other forestry labour deals in BC. Details of the agreement won’t be released until the Prince George and Williams Lake local unions have had an opportunity to first discuss the tentative agreement with their members, explained the USW release.
Elsewhere, CN Rail and the Teamsters union reached a tentative contract agreement late Wednesday, averting a potential strike by 3,000 workers that could have come as early as this weekend.
Both sides said that details of the three-year contract won’t be released until it is ratified by union members.
Teamsters spokesperson Stephane Lacroix described the negotiations as a bit chaotic, but said CN came to the union with a series of proposals late in the day.
