Madison’s Lumber Reporter reached out to Global Affairs Canada to find out what are the next steps, now that the 90-day deadline has passed (August 5). The US Commerce Department requested an extension, which was granted. The new deadline is October 18. Below is the full update from the Government of Canada:
The NAFTA Chapter 19 panel adjudicating Canada’s challenge to U.S. countervailing duties on Canadian softwood lumber products granted an extension to the U.S. Department of Commerce following its request. The redetermination, originally due on August 5, is now expected by October 18.
