Japan Housing Starts


Japan housing starts improved by 3.9 per cent in September 2016, to 85,622 units annually on a seasonally-adjusted basis from 82,242 units one year ago, according to Japan Lumber Reports November 4.

The proportion of wood-framed new construction — at 49,733 units — dropped to 58.8 percent, from 48,7171 units, or 59.2 percent in August.

New units built for owners were 25, 573 compared to 26,341 in August.

New units built for sale were 21,339, compared to 18,509 in August.
