North America Softwood Lumber Production: Jan – Dec 2019
The latest issue of the Western Wood Products Association’s monthly Lumber Track, for January-December 2019, shows US lumber production volumes up more than 1% over the previous year, to 35,319 mmfbm.
January – December softwood lumber production in Canada continued big drops compared to 2018, falling more than -10%, to 24,432 mmfbm. In full-year 2018 it was 27,282 mmfbm.

US sawmill production as per cent of practical capacity for full-year 2019 remained essentially flat from the previous year but was down from November, at 84%, from 85% for the same time in 2018, said the Western Wood Products Association’s monthly Lumber Track.
Canadian sawmill production as per cent of practical capacity continued drastic drops in a volatile year, for full-year 2019 to 80% compared to 87% for January – December 2018.
