Using the latest trade statistics, the Western Wood Products Association found US Softwood Lumber Apparent Consumption for January to October 2014 (at 35.7 billion fbm), up 7.1 per cent over the same time period in 2013. Lumber imports, meanwhile, are up 12.3 per cent.
The latest issue of the WWPA’s Lumber Track, out Monday, found US Sawmill Capacity Utilization for January to October 2014 up 4 per cent (to 84 per cent), over the same time for 2013. Sawmill Capacity Utilization in Canada was flat, at 79 per cent, compared to 2013.
