KD Fir Riddle

Purveyors of all types of fir had an up- and-down week, and Kiln-Dried Doug-fir players were no exception. They had a heck of a time trying to lock in deals, as pricing at mills, distributors, and customers differed wildly. Apparently everything but green fir was having “an identity crisis”, and sporadic, unsatisfying sales were the rule.

WSPF On Hold

Western-Spruce-Pine-Fir traders in the US had a ho-hum week at best. Sales weren’t up, they weren’t down; the market was just flat. No items stood out as encour- aging sellers. Customers had no incentive to jump in and buy and could choose to wait if they pleased. Mills have apparently produced a little too much wood so far in 2015. American WSPF players expect that by the end of February prices may grind down in a significant correction.
